The slicer itself is made out of high quality stainless steel, with a comfortable and easy to grip handle. What really makes this cutter different however is the blades, which again are also high quality.

It uses serrated blades, which means it should be able to cut the pineapple a lot easier than normal blades. This should result in you being able to core a pineapple quickly and with less mess, as the juice will remain in the bottom of the pineapple (perfect for making a cocktail with!)

Cost wise, it is more expensive than alternatives. I do think the fact that it can be used by both left and right handed people as well as the serrated blades, it does make the cost worthwhile.

Pineapple Corer Buyers Guide

Pineapples are some of the sweetest and unique fruits, but they can be tough to cut. Their prickly layers can easily harm you, and the inner hardcore can make the cutting process more difficult. Cutting a pineapple can be a messy process that takes up a lot of your time. Regardless of how much you try to plan or prepare for it, you can’t cut your pineapple without stress unless you use a pineapple Corer.

A pineapple corer is a cylindrical tool that you can use to remove the flesh from the pineapple without the core. The Corer removes the flesh in spirals, but you will have to remove the upper part of the pineapple with a knife first. Unlike a knife, a corer cuts the fruit with utmost precision, thus doing all the hard work for you. They are available in different types, made with different materials that you can choose from. Using these devices doesn’t just make the cutting process simpler, but it also makes it fun.

The process of using a pineapple corer is the same, regardless of the type of the device. You start by cutting off the top of the pineapple to get a flat surface that makes it easier for you to insert the corer. You should use a flat surface and try to cut it even as possible. After cutting, you can place the pineapple on the surface with the freshly cut side facing upwards.

The next step is to place the corer on top of the pineapple core. This is the circular tougher middle section of the pineapple. The hollow inside of the corer should cover the core. After ascertaining that the pineapple corer is in the right position, push it downwards while twisting it in a clockwise direction. Continue with the pushing and twisting motion until you feel resistant to indicate that you have reached the fruit’s bottom.

Pull the corer up with the fruit inside it. You may notice some juice collected inside the corer if the fruit was ripe enough. Pour the juice into a container after pulling the fruit out to avoid any wastage. To separate the device and the fruit, push the levers on the handle. That will disengage the two, after which you can slice the cylindrical fruit vertically to get pineapple rings.

After getting your perfect pineapple slices, you can still make use of the empty shell by using it as a bowl for your fruit salads. It can give you a unique aspect that you can use when entertaining guests or enjoying family snack time.

One of the reasons why using a pineapple corer is advisable is the fact that it gives you a safer alternative, which in turn allows you to enjoy your pineapples more. The outer shells of these fruits are usually prickly, which means that you have to be extremely careful when cutting through if you want to avoid being injured. If you have sensitive skin, then you can endure cuts or prickles from the fruit when cutting it, which can affect the whole experience. These devices remove such danger, thereby allowing you to enjoy the sweet fruit more.

Another benefit of using a corer is that they are less messy. Pineapples produce a lot of juice, especially when they are ripe, and that can make cutting them very messy. When using a knife, you will have to clear a big surface to cut them, and you will end up with pineapple juice all over the surface. If left unattended, the surface will become sticky because of the sugar content in the juice. The peels will also cover a larger area, forcing you to cut while cleaning, which takes a lot of effort. With these gadgets, cutting a pineapple doesn’t feel like a chore.

Reduction of wastage is another reason why using a pineapple corer is necessary. You can collect the juice, get the pineapple flesh, and still use the shell, which means that you will not throw anything away.Even though pineapple corers come in different types, they all have the benefits named above. They may have specific features that give them slight differences, but they will help you cut your pineapples with ease and efficiency while helping you reduce what you throw away.

What To look for when buying a pineapple corer

Like other kitchen devices, you have to be careful when selecting your corer to ensure you end up with the one that is easy to use to enable you to get the most benefits. Knowing the right features to look for will help you select from the numerous options available in the market. Even though each person’s preference may differ when it comes to the specifications of a corer, the following factors can help you choose a good device that will serve you for a very long time.

Pineapple corers are made with different materials such as steel and plastic, each with the ability to function as intended. However, steel is better because of the stability it provides. A corer made with stainless steel will not require you to put a lot of effort into cutting the fruit. Steel corers also last longer than plastic ones, which is another advantage.

Knowing how the blade of the pineapple corer works is impossible before you use it, so you will have to rely on the reviews from previous customers. Just make sure that it is very sharp since the fruit isn’t naturally soft. Consider the strength a well since weak blades often brake within the first few days to use. Another disadvantage of weak blades is that they don’t cut the flesh properly, which means that you may get shapeless pieces instead of a properly cut pineapple.

The handle of the device affects how easily you hold it, which affects how well you cut the pineapple. It would help if you chose a handle that feels comfortable but sturdy to help you control the twists to help you get a clear cut. Some corers have ratcheting features that will not need manual twisting, thus making them easier to use.

Pineapple corers come at different prices, but that doesn’t mean that the expensive ones are better. Consider your budget range then look for a corer with all the above features but within that price range. You can also read reviews or ask for recommendations for more options.
