Low Fat Shepherd’s Pie Recipe

Shepherds Pie to me is proper good grub and gives you that bit of comfort. This low fat option is just as nice but reduces the amount of calories



  • 500 g Low Fat Beef Mince (Below 5% Fat)
  • 1 Onion (Finely Chopped)
  • 1 Large Carrot (Chopped)
  • 1 Celery (Chopped)
  • 1 Swede (Chopped)
  • 45 potatoes (Chopped)
  • 1 Tin of chopped tomatoes
  • 2 Tablespoons of Tomato Puree
  • Bag of Grated Cheese
  • Frylight


  1. Place the potato and swede into separate saucepans of water and cook until soft
  2. Pre-heat oven at around 180 degrees
  3. Spray large saucepan with fry light and heat on a medium heat
  4. Add chopped onions and cook for 10 minutes or until soft
  5. Once onions are soft add the beef mince, carrot and celery
  6. Continue to mix the ingredients until beef is cooked and vegetables are soft
  7. Add the tin of chopped tomatoes and tomato puree, stir until fully combined.
  8. Mash the potato and swede, once both are mashed combined them in one saucepan and mix
  9. Put the beef mixture into a oven proof dish and spread the mash mixture over the top.
  10. Top the mash with the grated cheese and then bake in the oven
  11. Cook for 20-30 minutes or until cheese is browned and bubbling around the edges
