How To Make Sweet Potato ChipsChips go with many dishes but replacing your white potatoes with sweet potatoes is not only potentially a healthier option but they taste amazing! They are packed with Vitamin A, C, high in fibre and actually have fewer carbs in them than white potatoes.

You “could” just peel them, cut them and then stick them in the oven and they will be nice…You dont want to make nice sweet potato chips do you….no you want to make AMAZING chips! You therefore want to give them a nice bit of seasoning to really give them that extra favouring, making them a nice addition to any dish or as a nice snack.

Here is a basic recipe on how to make sweet potato chips, I hope you enjoy them and please dont forget to comment!

UPDATE: I thought id post a little update on this recipe as I ran out of Paprika and when in the shops to buy a replacement I came across “Smoked Paprika”. I gave this a shot and the outcome was incredible, the extra smokiness really gives it that something special…I would recommend it!


  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Garlic Infused Olive Oil – 2 Tablespoons (Normal Olive Oil is also fine)
  • Paprika Spice – 2 Teaspoons
  • Garlic Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Cayenne Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Honey – 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt & Pepper

The amount needed would vary on the amount of chips being made as you want to ensure they are fully covered in the seasoning.

How To Sweet Potato Chips – The Method!

Step One: Peel and Cut The Sweet Potato

Make sure all skin has been peeled off and cut to your desired thickness, make them thinner if you want fries. Try and keep all chips roughly the same size and thickness as this will mean a more even cook.

Step Two: Create the seasoning

In a bowl put in the Olive oil, Paprika, Garlic, Cayenne, honey and finally the salt and pepper. With a spoon mix all of these together and your seasoning will be ready.

Step Three: Season the Sweet Potato Chips

Put the chips into the bowl and with your hands mix the chips around, tossing them to ensure they all get a good covering of the seasoning. If you don’t have enough seasoning mix some more up in another bowl and pour onto the chips and continue mixing. Make sure the seasoning is evenly distributed around the chips.

Step Four: Cook

I usually put foil on a baking tray and then put the chips onto and into the oven for roughly 30 minutes, keep checking as the size of the chips will alter the amount of time you will need to cook them for.

Make sure you turn them half way to ensure both sides of the chips get that nice roasted texture and taste!

Step Five: Enjoy!!
