I recently had the pleasure of going to Bratislava with work on a business trip, we went to meet a client and take them out for a nice meal. Before going we had a look online and asked for recommendations and it was decided that we would go to Sky Bar Bratislava.
Like with most places when I book them and have not been before, I go straight onto their website and take a look at the menu and gallery. I like to get a feeling for the type of food they do, as well as how the restaurant looks.
I must say I was really impressed! The actual venue looked incredible and the food also sounded nice, the cocktails however looked amazing.
The location of Sky Bar in Bratislava is excellent, it’s on the top floor which gives you a panoramic view of the city. You also get an incredible view of the Bratislava Castle and the old town, which is an amazing sight during the day and the night when it’s all lit up!
The strip that the Sky Bar is located on is a great area during the day and in the evening, with shops, cafes and other bars. There are some excellent statues and fountains for perfect pictures and plenty of sitting area.
The Sky Bar is actually a couple of bars in one, with Lemon Tree and the Rum Club – plenty of a places you can visit!
The Sky Bar in Bratislava offers two menus, a modern european menu and a authentic Thai menu. I decided to choose from the European menu, the prices I felt were very responsible and could easily be compared to the prices in the UK.
I have never had scallop tartare before as i’d never thought to have raw scallops, it was however incredibly tasty. The scallops came with Lobster oil, chive puree and a white chocolate and vanilla foam. The foam was unusual but very nice.
I love a nice Duck breast and the duck that was served was very tender and cooked just how I like it, it had some great flavours. The duck came with an interesting maize puree, semolina foam and grilled spring onion.
I don’t usually go for chocolate mousse, I normally find them to rich but wanted to give this one a go. It was very nice and also came with melon sorbet and forest fruits. There was so much choice, I could have easily had one of each!
One of the things I liked about Sky Bar Bratislava was their drinks menu, it is extensive but also very quirky served in some interesting glasses.
I tried two different cocktails, both of which were excellent
This Gin cocktail comes with grapefruit juice, and a blend of flowers. It comes served in a bath along with a little rubber duck and tastes great!
This cocktail combines the great taste of Prosecco with sweet mango and chilean peso, it is topped with peppered candy floss. This cocktail is perfect for those that like sweet cocktails and i’d fully recommend it, the candy floss has a nice little test thanks to the pepper.
The service was decent, the member of staff showed us to our table and brought us water for the table. Shortly after they came and took our drink order and food order, I was really impressed the pacing of the courses as they came out at just the right time.
If you are visiting Bratislava or live in Bratislava then I would fully recommend a visit to Sky Bar. The food I thought was excellent (they sure like their foam), the drinks are incredible and the views are simply amazing!
If you can get a table outside then make sure you do, you can see around the entire city and as you can see from the image below the view of the castle is perfect.
