Kale and Spinach Breakfast Smoothie

Kale and Spinach Breakfast Smoothie

Kale and Spinach Breakfast Smoothie - Easy Smoothie recipe with 6 healthy ingredients - My favourite smoothie! http://amateurchef.wpengine.comIf you are looking for a nice smoothie for breakfast, this one is perfect. Its got a good mixture of vegetables and a few fruits. When making a smoothie you want to make sure that it’s not just made of fruit, it needs to have a higher % of vegetables.

The Orange and Pineapple really helps to make this smoothie nice and sweet but not too sweet that it’s sickly. It is important that you use frozen pineapple as this cools it down which gives it a really nice fresh taste.

The almond milk is important as this makes it less lumpy and therefore easier to drink, this could be replaced with coconut milk or coconut water if you don’t like almond milk. Make sure this is not replaced with normal cows milk. Put the almond milk in first followed by all of the other ingredients, you may need to push these down a little.

I then put this through the BlendActive and it blended well, I did need to take it off and give it a couple of shakes to make sure the kale moved down. I continued to blend this until it was smooth and tasty!

This smoothie is great for breakfast as it contains 19% of your daily value so it should help to fill you up until lunch. Its also high in Dietary Fiber with 50% of your daily value. In terms of Vitamins it has 29% of Vitamin A, 303% of Vitamin C.

Who doesnt love a full English, the calories however sometimes puts people off! This Slimming World Full English allows you to enjoy the dinner without the guilt!
Course: Breakfast
Cuisine: English
Servings: 2 People
Ingredients
  • 1 Tin of beans
  • 1 Tin of chopped tomatoes
  • 8 small mushrooms chopped half
  • 8 bacon medallions
  • 6 low fat sausages
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3-4 handfuls of spinach
  • Frylight
Instructions
  1. Pre-heat oven at 180C
  2. Cover a baking tray with foil and cover in fry light
  3. Place the bacon and sausages on the baking tray and place in the oven
  4. Put 1 saucepan of water on high eat until simmering
  5. Put 2 saucepans on medium eat and place beans and tomatoes in each one
  6. Finally put a 4th pan on a medium heat and put in the spinach and chopped mushrooms
  7. Once the water is simmering in the first pan drop in eggs to make poached eggs
  8. Continuing stirring the beans, tomatoes and spinach whilst cooking
  9. Once everything is cooked you want to plate up and enjoy!!

The first thing you need to do is ensure you don’t use any oil and as little fat as possible. If you do need oil then you want to replace this with fry light. You also want to keep the meat fat content to a low if you’re going to have sausages then you want low fat ones, bacon should have the fat trimmed off so it’s only the medallions.

When making I cover a baking tray with foil and spray fry light on it and then put the sausages and bacon on the tray and again spray with a bit of fry light. Place this in the oven at roughly 180C and leave to fully cook. Whilst the meat is cooking you then want to put a pan on water on to boil as we will be using this for the poached eggs (although you could fry eggs but again make sure you use fry light!).

As well as the water you then want to place two more pans one with beans and one with chopped tomatoes. Finally you want to get a large pan and put a few sprays of frylight, this saucepan is for the spinach and some chopped mushrooms. This will all take around 20-30 minutes but continue cooking until everything is cooked completely.

Once the water has boiled for the eggs create the poached eggs, if you’re not comfortable doing it – check out a great method on making poached eggs here. Once you have plated up you only have to enjoy!!

I’d love to know what you think about this meal, please comment below and let me know how you get one! 🙂

Egg Benedict Recipe

Egg Benedict Recipe

Egg Benedict Recipe.

Eggs Benedict is usually my go to breakfast if at a hotel or restaurant if I don’t fancy a full english, when done right they can be amazing!

The problem I find sometimes when I have egg Benedict is that too much vinegar is used so it has more of a vinegar taste than actual egg!

Many people shy away from following an egg Benedict recipe as they believe poaching an egg is to hard to do, it really doesn’t have to be.

If you have not done so already, check out this How to poach an egg guide;

http://amateurchef.wpengine.com/how-to-poach-an-egg/

There is a video below that will also show you how to do it.

Egg Benedict Recipe

I have written up the egg Benedict recipe which can be seen further below, if you would prefer to watch how it is done take a look at the periscope video that I did recently.

This recipe will assume you are making 2 egg Benedicts
